Christie’s

Client:
Christie's

Launch date:
July 2021

Christie’s is a world-leading art and luxury British auction house founded in 1766. Recognised for its online auctions and bespoke private sales, Christie’s also holds its physical presence in 46 countries ranging from America to Europe to Middle-east Asia.

Expanding Horizons is an online private auction examining the cross-pollination connecting Eastern and Western art traditions. The exhibition opens up to a virtual world, with artworks set in a space synchronised to the theme. Artworks meet you from ceiling to floor, including an ornate ceiling created entirely virtually. The fields of green in the background, right outside the decorative balcony, add to the calm and real-life viewing atmosphere.

The exhibition aims to sell the works; therefore, Emperia allows art collectors and buyers who visit the private virtual auction to view the artworks in detail, depicting both colour realism and artwork condition. Visitors can scan the room and tap the paintings and sculptures individually to view a detailed description of each and directly inquire about pieces of interest.

Interactive virtual tour

Since launching, the average time spent on Christie’s virtual auction was 17 minutes per session.
