I'd like to post this small funny piece, kind of an enigma to me. It took me some effort to realize that it maybe represents an octopus or some other mollusk. The creature is wrapped in a dress and is embracing a broken jar. It's Ivory made and less than 25 mm tall. Tried to look up for similar subjects but I didn't come up with anything. Is this a known subject for a Netsuke? If authentic (and not an NLO) what do you think could be a possible dating?
