These kinchaku purses do come up from time to time so I generally grab one when I see it, if the dealer is not asking too much. There must be more than 10 of them here now, of various shapes and materials. You can put old 'zeni' copper/brass coins inside and allow them to rub against each other, revealing the appearance of their active years. 一文銭 Ichi mon sen, 四文銭 yon mon sen, and 十文銭 ju mon sen for example are good. 天保通宝、天保銭 Tempo-tsuho or Tempo-sen 100-mon coins though can get a bit heavy.
For anyone reading this thread, Netsuke can be genuine and still simple.
