After clicking the button you will be taken to a new view displaying the forum post editor. If you want to know more about the post editor features please see the Post Editor tutorial.
To create the new topic you need to enter a subject for the topic as displayed in the following image, you can also select an associated Icon for the topic, and enter the first post content inside the Post Editor text area.
You can preview or save as draft and for more details on that please visit the Post Editor tutorial.
To make the new topic active simply click on the submit button and the membership will be able to visit, read or post under your new topic subject.
Once you have logged on to the lounge you will note a number of changes to your view.
One of these changes is in relation to your Private Messages area.
To access your messages you can click on the link, circled in green in the following image, or access them via your User Control Panel. You will also note that the small read icon top right of the email envelope will let you know how many new messages are currently waiting for you to read.
Reading Private Messages
On clicking this link you will be taken to your User Control Panel with the Private Messages tab automatically selected. It is easy to identify the unread message as the icon beside each email will be highlighted in red if the message is unread. The following image shows an example of an unread email icon circled in green.
To read this email you would click on the message subject link beside the icon I have circled in this example above.
Sending Private Messages
To send a Private Message to another member of the lounge you will need to click on the Compose message tab circled in green as shown in the image below.
You are then taken to the posting page as visible in the following image. To compose the email you can see that you are presented with a posting form, similar to that which you use to submits posts under the different topic areas.
One area that differs to the posting form you use under the topics section is circled in green in the following image.
Usernames should be entered into the Add recipient text area and then either the Add, or Add [BCC], used to add the user to the appropriate recipient list.
If you are unsure of a user's name, you can use the Find a member link to search the member list for the user(s) you wish to contact. On clicking this link a new window will pop up that allows you to find members in a number of different ways.
Finding Recipients Method 1 - By Searching
If you remember part of a user name type what you remember in the Username box and a list of available members under that subset of the text you write appears in a splash box as circled in green in the image below. This splash box changes dynamically as you type reducing the list of available members under that name.
Click on the username from the list you want to send a message to and the click on the Search button. Below the Search button you will see the username(s) returned from your search. You can the tick to select multiple recipients, or just click select for an individual as circled in green, in the following image.
On clicking select the username(s) will be automatically populated back in the Add recipients box in the screen behind.
Finding Recipients Method 2 - Manually
If you just can't remember the username of the individual you wish to message, you can also use the members list to manually go through all the members and place a check next to the desired user(s) in the memberlist. In the example below I have clicked on j in the index to bring back all member names beginning with that letter.
Once you have found the user(s) press Select marked under that user and the username(s) will be automatically populated back in the Add recipients box in the screen behind.
Having completed you message all you need do now is press the Submit button.

Step 1 - Click on Registration
As a guest you will see a registration icon up on the top left of this site. In the following image you will not the icon is highlighted in green. Click on this to proceed.
Step 2 - Terms and Conditions
After clicking the Register link, the terms and conditions of registering will be displayed, which you must accept to proceed. The accept button is highlighted in the following image in green.
If you so desire - you can choose to change the language to clarify you understand these terms in your mother tongue. In this example, highlighted in green.
Step 3 - Populate the Registration Form
Beyond accepting the terms and conditions, you need to fill out some important details such as selecting a username, entering your e-mail address * and desired password. You can also select your timezone and default language you wish the netsuke and sagemono lounge to translate the overall framework of the website.
Please note: Changing your default language will convert the "framework" of this site into your chosen language. The framework includes the static rules, FAQ, buttons etc. It will not automatically convert all the topics and posts submitted from the lounge's base language of English. Another tool is available for that and it's usage is explained in the editor tutorial section.
At the bottom of this registration page you will see an automatically generated graphic with some odd-looking characters. In the image below you can see this highlighted in green. This is known as a CAPTCHA. A CAPTCHA is an image with distorted letters and numbers which you must then type into an adjacent box. The reason for this is to ensure that you are a legitimate user registering (as opposed to a spam robot performing an automated registration). Simply enter the characters you see into the Confirmation code field and proceed with the registration. If you cannot understand the code, click on the refresh code button to get a new code.
Step 4 - Email link confirmation
To help reduce spam we have made it a requirement that you have to follow a link mailed to you after registering before your account is activated. In this case you will see a message similar to this one:
Your account has been created. However, this forum requires account activation, an activation key has been sent to the e-mail address you provided. Please check your e-mail for further information
Once you have completed all of the fields on the registration page, clicking the Submit button will complete the process. If you wish to clear all fields, clicking the Reset button will do this for you. After clicking Submit, you will be sent an e-mail to the address you specified with a link to finalise the registration.
Important note regarding your email address
* If you are already an existing INS member and want to automatically be included into the INS group please make sure you use the same email address as you have provided to the INS. In doing so, and on logging with your new account, a new area of the forum will appear entitled THE WEST WING - A private residence for INS members .
